14. Summary

The summary sheet summarises and presents the outputs of the model. It does not include any inputs.

At the top of the sheet there are several design parameters: the thermal envelope, the volume of the building, the treated floor area. B beneath that it summarizes the operational intensity of each aspect of the building starting with the energy demand, the energy consumption (taking account for any inefficiencies in systems), the primary energy, and then the operational carbon.

Under that we have a list of the requirements we have defined and whether or not they have been achieved. This is a key part of the sheet. If you haven't achieved any of these requirements you can go back over the design and amend things until you do.

Lastly at the end we have a summary of the proportion of embodied carbon compared to operational carbon for this building. This gives you a sense of where you need to focus your energies in terms of reducing the overall carbon footprint.

If you increase the complexity level on the sheet you will find that some further information is provided with a bit more detail on some of these parameters.
